Debut Books seeks stories that celebrate our differences, and creates opportunities for people to achieve their writing dreams. Publishing needs to be more accessible – I’m committed to making that happen.
Storytelling is the magic that keeps us returning to one another in a divided world. This became abundantly clear when I published The Mini Collection, and my commitment to connection through stories has only strengthened over time.
Debut Books is committed to building principled spaces for all writers, focusing on those so often marginalised and ignored.
Debut Books tells the stories traditional publishing fails to share and supports writers who feel like there's no space for them in this industry. Debut Books helps storytellers from all walks of life change, challenge and entertain the world.
CURIOSITY.
Debut Books defies the status quo. We refuse to sit with what is safe and familiar, opting instead for exploring, searching, questioning, and listening. By accepting that our own knowledge is finite, we push ourselves and push others to think differently, deeper, and more courageously.
Let’s leave fear and judgement behind, and normalise changing our opinions when presented with new information.
May we wonder together.
IMPACT.
Debut Books strives to help people be extraordinary. By building a culture that embraces risk-taking, curiosity, openness and sharing of knowledge and skill, we want to encourage growth, resilience, compersion and reciprocity.
We’re passionate about empowering people to take ownership of their actions and decisions. By being open to sharing knowledge, Debut Books hopes to build a people-centred community that values working together for mutual liberation and success.
There is enough room for us all.
Debut Books is called to live, work and play by these values and intentionally align how we show up in the world by these beliefs.
Why we exist:
To normalise all kinds of storytelling so that people know their stories matter.
How we do it:
By engaging with storytelling from a place of worthiness.
What we do:
Teach with a social conscience, empower autonomy and choice, commit to continual learning and let it be known that all writers are welcome here.
